I’m glad that throughout season 3, Kalinda’s ties to the community were strengthen.  That was mainly through Cary and Will: the writers showed that she has personal connections to Chicago.  However, I’m ecstatic that the end of the season showed a new bond forming between Kalinda and Alicia.  People can ship Kalinda with whomever they want but for me, Kalinda’s real relationship is with Alicia. Kalinda may open up to certain people but it is Alicia who gets under Kalinda’s skin. It is Alicia alone who cracks Kalinda’s shell.  As Blake said “It’s about Alicia, that’s what you care about.”  It was lovely to watch Kalinda be so protective and do so many things for Alicia in season 3 (finding Grace, protecting Alicia from the forged document issue during Will’s Grand Jury, willing to lie for Alicia in Alienation of Affection.)  I think Alicia is the only person that Kalinda actually goes out of her way to help.

The end of the season 3 was incredible because Kalinda and Alicia are not only friends again but Kalinda is actually opening up to Alicia, as she said she would.  One of the favorite scenes this season is when Kalinda and Alicia agree to start their friendship over. Kalinda’s simple “yes” to Alicia is so revealing.  Alicia is the only person that Kalinda would agree to open up to without hesitation and actually mean it.  Her face after Alicia leaves made me think that she didn’t even realize what she agreed to but she couldn’t stop herself from saying yes to Alicia.

Also in the finale when Alicia gives Kalinda the cheque and Kalinda says she’ll “take care of it,” that scene was a favorite of mine as well.  Alicia seems annoyed and disappointed by Kalinda is that scene.  Kalinda seems so desperate to reassure Alicia that the cheque is no big deal and she’ll be back. As a viewer, that seen alone showed me how much Kalinda wants Alicia’s friendship.  She saw Alicia pulling away from her again and she desperately and nonchalantly tried to assure Alicia that everything was fine.

Plus, Kalinda staying to protect Alicia was beautiful.  She would continue to run from her husband but she’ll stay, and face whatever comes her way, to make sure that Alicia is safe.

I am very impressed with the character of Kalinda, especially in the second half of this season.  She has been more willing to show emotion and open up to people but she has not lost any of her badass-ness.  Though Alicia was cold to Kalinda for most of the season, she seems happy to have Kalinda as a friend again (the way she looks at Kalinda in the second picture makes so happy!)

I’m excited for season 4, Kalinda’s relationship with her husband is apparently filled with love and fear.  And I can’t wait to see the new Kalinda and Alicia friendship.

I have read that some people think Lana’s investigation of Kalinda makes no sense. So I put on my Kalinda boots and investigated!

Even though the Lemond Bishop story has always been a minor background story, I was always under the impression that they planned to expand this story line at some point.  Lana’s connection to the show (besides Kalinda) has been unclear.  In Season One, she is investigating Glenn Childs and Peter but that was dropped.  Then she mentions to Kalinda that she is aware of the the existence of the tapes from when Glenn Childs wiretapped the Florrick’s phone.  But that was dropped too.

But we became aware of her connection to Lemond Bishop in 2x14 Net Worth. I didn’t remember that she talked to Kalinda about Bishop in a previous episode because it seemed insignificant at the time.  This is their conversation:

Kalinda: How’s work?

Lana: Okay, MS-13 is growing. Now, a meth gang is like a shark. It has to keep moving, or it dies. And from what I hear, it’s moving to Chicago. Joining forces with a local gang. A entrepreneur that you might know.

Kalinda: Who?

Lana: Lemond Bishop?

Lana: I have an offer for you. Come work for me. It’s not good at Lockhart Gardner and it won’t be good for quite some time.
Kalinda: And why is that?
Lana: Your firm is representing Bishop, the drug dealer.
Kalinda: Yeah he has legitimate interests.
Lana: He has no legitimate interests. The firm is in danger. Come work for me.
Kalinda: We had this conversation. I like where I am.

Now, I do not approve of Lana’s investigation of Kalinda.  I don’t like anyone coming after Kalinda.  But it makes a lot of sense.  Obviously the FBI needs a way to get information about Bishop and using his law firm is a smart idea.  Kalinda’s side work for him (whatever it may be) is a good target, it is a good way to investigate what Bishop is doing without directing investigating Bishop.  Lana questioned Bishop about Kalinda but she still has an opportunity to involve Bishop.

Based on Kalinda and Lana’s conversation in 2x14 and the fact that they continue to mention Bishop, I think that Lockhart/Gardner representing Bishop is going to become a problem at some point for them.  They have been setting up the story so they could expand on it later.  And I think that Lana’s investigation of Kalinda was a way to open that door.

It is ridiculous how perfect every cast member and character is on The Good Wife.

There is not one cast member/character that is not brilliant.

Also, how does that Alicia/Tammy scene in the promo make any sense? Didn’t she spend half of the Will/Tammy scenes saying “don’t have feelings for me, i’ll leave if you have feelings for me.” Now she’s being territorial and acting like they had a full blown relationship? Love Elizabeth Reaser though so I’m excited for her return!
